Shawarma
Strong and tasty, easy chicken shawarma at home! Bates takes out any day of the week, and it's perfect for work or school lunch. It’s a juicy chicken that is marinated in a mixture of Middle Eastern spices, stacked in a cone-shaped shape, and slowly roasted. It's really popular street food in the Mediterranean, but you can get the same delicious flavors at home. Shawarma recipe must try at home.
How to make chicken shawarma at home?
I think boneless, skinless chicken queens are the best cut for shawarma. They are also much less expensive and juicier than breast meat. More bang for your buck without sacrificing flavor. You just can't beat it! If you like lean meat, you can use chicken breast. If you can, I would suggest using half breasts and half thighs. Let's move on to all the ingredients/components.
- 1. Olive Oil
- 2. Freshly
squeezed lemon juice
- 3. Onion
- 4. Garlic
cloves
- 5. Chicken breasts and/or, chicken breasts
Spices:
- Salt
- Cumin
powder
- Black
pepper
- Turmeric
- Pinch
of cinnamon
- Sweet
paprika
- Ground
coriander
- Sumac
- Black
pepper
- Crushed red pepper flakes
Sauce:
- 1 cup yogurt 2. ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 3. 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 4. 1 garlic clove, grated
First of all, you can go and marinate the chicken. If you like tangy
flavors, use more lemon juice. The smell of crushed cardamom is very good and
travels a little too far. All the spices are going to add tons and tons of
flavor. Make sure the chicken and onions are completely coated in the marinade
and refrigerate for at least an hour. You can marinate it overnight for 6 to 8
hours for maximum flavor.
Garlic Yogurt Sauce for Chicken Shawarma.
White garlic sauce is amazing. It’s creamy, tangy, just the right amount
of garlic. Some local takeout shawarma spots are so heavy on garlic and
mayonnaise that it makes me feel nauseous after eating. I make my own with lots
of yogurts. It really lightens the mayonnaise and adds a creamy texture to it.
I use plain yogurt with all the milk. This is not Greek yogurt, but if you have
Greek yogurt, go ahead and use it. I like the consistency of plain yogurt
because it keeps the sauce nice and thin. But as I said, use what you have or
if you have a thicker sauce, use Greek yogurt.
Your sauce should stay fresh in the fridge for a while. So keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. If you want to pack a delicious lunch for work or send your children to shawarma school, you will have your own sauce ready.
How to
cook shawarma chicken?
After marinating your chicken for at least an hour, you can grill it.
Grill it over medium-high heat and let it cook for about 6 or 7 minutes per
side or until the chicken's internal temperature reaches 165 C.
To use the broiler set the broiler to the maximum temperature, and make
sure your oven rack is as close to the heating element as it will go. Place the
cooling rack on top of the baking tray and place the chicken on top of the
cooling rack. I have tried to cook the chicken directly on the baking tray and
the chicken does not come out juicy. All the juices and fats drip down and then
you have that delicious juicy chicken. So, use it if you have a cooling rack.
In fact, if you want to make a small batch, you can cook it on the
stove. All I know is that whenever I make chicken shawarma I like to make big
batches. It's great to go to work or go to school with kids. So if I'm doing
this, I'm going to make a big batch. Also, cooking it on the stove will emit a
lot of smoke and you will have to wash the pan several times. So I prefer to do
it on the grill or in the oven.
Cook under a broiler for 16 to 18 minutes, turning the chicken about
halfway. The chicken will become nice and golden brown. Let it sit and rest for
about 10 minutes, then move on and cut it into strips. Put it in a large bowl
and mix it with all the delicious onions that have become caramelized and
softened.
I like to beat You put your sauce, salad, and chicken mixture on your
stomach. For salads, you can have greens of your favorite salad and chop them
with a little carrot, tomato, and cucumber. For busy nights, I have a
ready-made salad that I buy from Costco. My favorite is the Mediterranean
Crunch Cut Salad Cut. If you guys have a Costco, this is great to keep in hand
for those busy days when you don't have time to add a salad.
If you want your chicken shawarma as you get it from stores, you can
grind it before putting it together. Heat a cast-iron grill over medium-high
heat. After slicing the chicken, place it on a cast iron for about 30 seconds,
until the crispy bits come out.
Serve your pita
with vegetable side dishes, such as Greek salad or Zachary noodles.
If you stay away
from carbohydrates, go ahead and put it on top of salads or maybe cabbage rice.
If you don't mind carbohydrates but you don't want bread, put it on some rice.
